Specific Instructions When Choosing Light Bulbs for Your Fixtures

 

Incandescent, Florescent, and CFL Bulbs (curly shaped bulbs.

Be sure to purchase light bulbs according to your needs and safety factors. For example, bulbs which produce too much light for your purpose, and for the distance you are enjoying the light and for what purpose you are using the bulb.

An example would be a highly concentrated light with a high power should not be used in close proximity to your work area or close to or which are directly shining in your eyes. The best bulb of choice in the market today are LED light bulbs and not traditional incandescent or florescent bulbs.

Each of these have their purposes, however it is not considered to be best practice to being exposed to long periods with florescent bulbs because of the fact that they emit intermittent flows of light which might be damaging to the eyes, and original incandescent bulbs are short lasting, burn hotter, and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), as they are called are filled with mercury, and should be disposed of properly.

LED Bulbs

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) provide the equivalent amount of light, and operate at a cooler temperature, so the applications where it can be used has broadened, and the LED bulbs use less energy than other choices. These are usually come at a higher cost than other bulbs initially, however will save money over the life of the bulb.

 

An enclosed fixture is one that does not allow airflow to the bulb. Examples include recessed can lights with a lens cover, pendant lighting where glass fully encloses the bulb, fully enclosed porch lights, and any other fixtures where the bulb is enclosed in some way. When a bulb is not rated for enclosed fixtures, it means the bulb can overheat and fail prematurely or cause other safety issues as a result. Bulbs that are not in an enclosed fixture, are rated and designed for lamps with an open shade, open pendant lights, open wall sconces, and similar installations that allow the heat to dissipate.

 

What is a e26 light bulb?

E26 is the size of most light bulbs used in the U.S. It's referred to as having a “medium” or “standard” base. E12 is the smaller “candelabra” base. It's used for nightlight bulbs, and sometimes for decorative light bulbs used in chandeliers and over bathroom mirrors.

 

What is a a19 medium base bulb?
Shaped like a snow cone, A19 LED light bulbs are probably what you think of when someone says "light bulb." The standard for household lighting in living rooms, bedrooms, and more, A19s have typically been manufactured using energy-consuming incandescent technology.

 

 

Are the E26 and E27 interchangeable?
If you live in the US the standard voltage is 140 and in European countries the standard is E27 which is 240 volt. If you live in the US and are offered E27, JUST SAY NO.
